Cuidixia Village is located in Chuandixia village of Zhaitang town in Mentougou district and the distance is 65 kilometers away from Mentougou district. Chuandixia village was formerly known as "Cuidixia village" because it was under 'CuiliAnkou' an important military pass in the Ming Dynasty, hence the name. In 1958, the name was changed from Cui to 'Chuan' Chuandixia Village Ancient Residence takes the Siheyuan (compound with houses around courtyard) as the theme for residential areas in the Qing Dynasty with Siheyuan's basic style and general traditional yard characteristics. Chuandixia Siheyuan is composed by the main house, the back house and both side wing rooms.
Some parts are without Erfang house and Cover house and have certain axis relation. The largest main house comprised of five rooms, general main house and back house (comprised of three rooms) and two wing-rooms on the left and right. They all are single-storey construction.
