Ci'en Pagoda was constructed in year 741 and is located southwest of the Yoyang city. Seven levels of octagonal solid brick and stone structure were later constructed. The Pagoda's height is 39 meters; each has the small niche for a statue of Buddha from the second floor. It was a young girl's father died of illness in ancient time. The family stayed in Yueyang because they were poor. The young girl has to servitude to bury the father. Her filial act moved an official and he adopted the young girl to live with his daughter. The young girl married to a person after. The named "Cien Pagoda" was in remembrance of this.
