The Jinan Islamic Northern Temple is one of the famous mosques in the country. There were two legends on the year regarding the year the temple was being constructed. The first saying was that the temple was built at the reign of Emperor Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty and the second saying has it that the temple was constructed at the reign of Emperor Qianlong first year in Qing Dynasty.
It was listed as one of the key cultural preservation units of Jinan because of the long glorious history of the temple. The Jinan Islamic Northern Temple is situated on the south of Xiguanyuan YongChang Street in Jinan.
The construction is grand in scale and the layout is complete and integrated. The entire temple area is 8.1 Chinese acres and the floor space is 2,252 square meters. According to Islamism, the temple sits west and faces east, with the steps arranged from low to high.
The Jinan Islamic Northern Temple was officially opened in September 1989.
