Tanggu is a seaside city in Tianjin Municipality occuping a total area of 859 sq. km, with a population of 560,000. For its ideal geographical location, Tanggu is famed as the Ocean Entry of Tianjin. ×Ö´®3 Tanggu is a very important port city in Nothern China. With an ideal location, it attracts much investment, so there are many large chemicals corporations and ocean oil exploration here. Also, it boasts the biggest man-made port in China--Tianjin Port. Spring is windy but dry and most of the precipitation takes place in July and August. The railways in and near Tanggu District are closely linked to many state-grade trunk railways including the Beijing-Harbin Railway accessing the entire Northeast China region; the Beijing-Shanghai Railway traveling through North China and East China, sends passengers and cargo to every part of the country. It has been extended to Europe as the starting point of Eurasia Land Bridge.

Even a modern and splendid bund has been built along both sides of the Haihe River. The construction of this bund was finished on National Day this year (2006). And it was designed by a US company.
