Sangye Monastery is located on the foot of Zhama Mountain and north shore of the Brehmaputre in Shannan Zhangnang County. The distance from Zedang town is 38 kilometers. It was the first complete Buddhist temple according to the Tibetan Buddhism history. The entire layout of the building was completely built according to the Buddhist Infinite Universe. The Grand Wuce main hall represents the world center, Xumi Mountain. The Solar Palace and the Moon Palace symbolized the universe sun and moon. The four pagodas at the corner of Wuce main hall represent the four great heavenly kings. There are four big halls around the main hall and eight small palaces that symbolized the four big continents and eight small continents. The circular fence symbolized the Iron Circular Mountain of the world periphery.
